Walked into my apartment was freezin' cold
Went to see my landlord; he's much too bold

He said you better deal with it or you can just get beat
I can barely afford to pay my rent. Got a dozen bills that the mailman sent
I guess you heard all of this before
But I gotta do something about that hole in my door

Went lookin through the Want-ads to find myself a home
Went to the bank, they wouldn't give me a loan
They said your credit is no good you're down in a hole
You need low income housing and rent control
Well, I'm getting really good at barely getting by
My boss don't know how hard I try
When I ask for a raise, he just moans
He drives a Mercedes and I ain't got not home
